Dedication- The Virginia Beach Central Library will be formally dedicated and named the Meyera E. Oberndorf Central Library at 10:30 am Wednesday April 29. A ceremony will be held at the library , 4100 Virginia Beach Blvd, featuring Mayor William D. Sessoms Jr. & former mayor Oberndorf.
Gone to the Dogs-The Department of Parks and Recreation presents the K-9 Karnival from 10am to 3pm. Sat. May 9 at Red Wing Park. 1398 General Booth Blvd. The event features exhibits, demonstrations, an agility course and frisbee competition, canine rescue organizations, a rabies clinic (offering reduced-rate vaccinations) and more. Family Friendly Eco Event-The Department of Parks & Recreation and Virginia Beach Clean Community Commission present Earth Day 2009 from 11am-5pm on Sun. May 3 at Mt. Trashmore Park. The event features interactive exhibits and activities, plastic bag recycling, a biking event, an eCycling event for residents to recycle old computers, electronics and other related peripherals (like ink cartridges), and more.
