You may have been hearing on the news about several business robberies (mostly convenience stores) in Virginia Beach and elsewhere. Our VBPD has stepped up patrols around convenience store locations throughout the area. I have witnessed unmarked vehicles, as well as the standard VBPD vehicles in the area. However, the league has asked for an even heavier presence in our area, and the Mayfair area.
On Wednesday, the Money Mart on the corner of PA and Cheyenne Rd. was robbed at gun point by a black male wearing a partial mask. He fled on foot down Cheyenne into the Mayfair townhouses. When more information comes available, I will send it out.
Please pledge to call in ANY suspicious vehicles (get license plate#) or activity AS SOON AS IT HAPPENS! The non-emergency number is 385-5000. However, if you see something IN PROGRESS happening, call 911! Quick communication is vital in catching these criminals. It takes an entire community and the VBPD working together to police our streets.
If you saw anything suspicious on Wednesday, call the Robbery Detective in charge, Det. Marafka. His office number is 385-4101 and ask him by name. Please note above the Report #.

Last week, we finished physically mapping out all 1400 homes into blocks (10-20 homes each), and are working on getting the block numbers assigned and in database form. However, if you have not already done so, please email the league (cafcivicleague@yahoo.com) your name, email address, address and phone number. We will refer to the map and let you know the house numbers you will be assigned.
In the future, Ginny Passaris (409-5105), the head of the NHWatch for our league, will be the one that you coordinate NHW efforts once the database is established.
